Johnson was unreal for the Sabres last season, I wish somehow we were able to keep him. On a decent team that save% would have even been higher. |

From a Sabres fan, this was a very good signing by the Flames. Really wished Buffalo could have retained him and no idea why Murray didn't offer him 2 years. Johnson saved our a*$ quite a bit last season and made some ridiculous saves. He plays bigger than he looks and is super athletic. Only negative I can think of is sometimes he lets in the odd softy...like every goalie. But at the beginning of the year he seemed to do it more and improved over the year. All in all this guys probably the best true back-up in the league and could start 35 games. |

Hey Todd!
I do appreciate your more critical blogs, even if I don't agree with everything you write. Good to get an opinion that is not super homer.
But it's also nice to get a positive blog like this one every now and then!
Any plans on doing a Q&A blog? If so, let us know on here, as I for one, don't do the twitter.

I wonder if a trade with NYR could happen for Nash if they take Wideman+prospect goalie and retain some of nash's salary. 2 yrs of nash wouldn't be bad, would it? would all depend on what the kids sign for though
JG/Mon/Nash
Shink/Backs/Frolik
Poirier(Tchachuk)/Bennet/Brouwer
Bouma/Stajan/Ferly(chiasson)
Gio/Brodie/DH
Spoon/Joki/Nakadal/England |

why do that from our side?
Wideman has 1 year left and then we are rid of his contract....Nash is done....don't want his contract for another year and I doubt NYR retains salary.
Plus I think Wideman has a purpose on this team, last year he was terrible, but we were singing his praises the year prior. THis is a contract year and I'd guess he performs well this season and we trade him as a rental at the deadline

I'm more thinking that giving spoon/nakadal/joki and moving up morrison is a safer shift then possibly giving poirier/shink bigger minutes. Nash fills a Big body RW need and buys them time.
But Im fine without the move. Just would rather see a move like that then hudler/vrbatta or a UFA plug |

Nash is a LW and a left shot, which still helps but we are still in more need of a RW preferably with a Right shot. Moving up Morrison makes little sense. He was sat for quite a few games last year and still has a lot of development ahead of him. There are better choices for moving up to the big club if that is what you are suggesting. |

Also, why would the Rangers do this? I think the last thing they need is another high priced D, even if it is for only 1 more year. |

Yea, I think to start the season Morrison didn't get in too many games. I believe he started playing more as the season wore on. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. |

He got hampered by various injuries then really stepped up in the late season when others were either injured or getting called up.
Love how he plays on the offensive blueline. He's legit in my opinion. Then again, maybe I'm reaching.

Would rather they chase someone like Tatar from the red wings. Still not a rw but right age and when his contract expires still rfa |

We don't need another big contract. Nash would be better fit some where he can kinda hide like Washington. There is a lot of young guys knocking at the door time to let some in. As widman is concerned hated his game last year and hated how much heartily played him. But a contract year for him he will have more modavation. And I think he was embaraced with his proformance last year.. He will have a better season |

Well when you put it that way, how could the Rangers not be interested? |

It's (frank)ing boring here these days.Garths thread has been trolled to death, Sabres fans are just morons ( no doubt, some ding dong figures that Sam Reinhart could net them a top defenseman), Canucks fans can't take a joke, and I can barely get a rise out of you guys anymore.
About the only thing still going is Tanners threads and those are getting pretty redundant . |

not counting on wideman for anything.
like i mentioned last blog. let him play less time. trade a deadline or keep him if in the playoffs. use him to ease a young D in.
